Carol Andrade is a forró teacher and researcher of body expression. She started studying dance in her childhood, when she took ballet classes. In 2016, she discovered her passion for forró and started going out every week to dance in the forró’s parties, that were happening in the city.
In 2017, she became a monitor at a dance academy called Lá Na Dança, where she learned various types of ballroom dancing. In that period, she gave her first workshop, when she discovered her real interest in teaching dance classes.
In 2018, Carol and Wesley launched classes at the dance academy and at the University of Brasília (UnB), which contributed to their personal and professional growth and as a dancer performer. In 2019, she taught workshops in Brasília, São Paulo and Bahia.
Currently, Carol and Wesley teach forró classes at University of Brasilia, as they believe that dance classes at the university can bring several benefits to students, such as socialization and the perception of themselves and the others.
They are also developing online classes in the Lá Vai Forró project, which teaching free forró dance classes through videos posted on their Youtube and Instagram chanel, as they believe that dance classes should reach everyone who is interested.
Wesley Andrade works as a dance teacher, specialized in forró universitário/roots. He started dancing in 2013 at the University of Brasília (UnB), where he learned forró and fell in love with the style.
In 2015, he became a monitor at the Lá na Dança academy, he went through several experiences with the most varied rhythms of dancing styles. In 2016, he joined Forró Project at University of Brasilia, where he started his experience as forró teacher.
He has joined the teacher’s team at the Workshop de Forró na Capital (WFC), in Brasília and in different parts of Brazil.
He is the creator of the YouTube channel Lá vai Forró, where he shares his knowledge. His aim is to introduce and teach the structural characteristics of the dance steps and all of the cultural movement that forró is about.
“I'm passionate about learning and I'm always looking to find new ideas to teach. I like to mix technique and feeling within the classes, and my goal is to spread the culture of forró and change people's lives through dance.
