Il s'agit de la troisième et dernière session.
Les deux autres formations ont lieu en novembre 2024 avec Agostina d'Alessandro et en janvier 2025 avec Maya M Carroll (The instrument).
Cette formation s’adresse à des danseur.euse.s confirmé.e.s, professionnel.le.s ou en voie de professionnalisation, qui ont déjà une pratique de l’improvisation et une connaissance mature des principes de composition instantanée.
La priorité pour les inscriptions est donnée aux personnes qui s’inscrivent pour l’ensemble des trois semaines, et qui bénéficieront d'un tarif avantageux.
QUAND
Le stage se déroulera du lundi 23 au vendredi 27 juin 2025. Nous pratiquerons 6 heures par jour.
Les heures de travail seront de 10h à 17h30, avec 1h30 de pause déjeuner.

Nous serons accueilli.e.s dans le magnifique studio du Centre Chorégraphique National, avec une vue prenante sur les montagnes.

Theater works : Working with Objects
Différents éléments récurrents caractérisent les œuvres de Julyen Hamilton. Tous ont fait l’objet de multiples recherches, ils ont été longuement pratiqués et éprouvés.
Ils incluent la lumière, le son, l’espace, le texte et la parole … ainsi que l’usage des objets.
Le travail scénographique de Julyen et l’utilisation des objets dans l’espace sont essentiels et accompagnent toutes ses oeuvres réalisées pour le théâtre.
Objets placés,
portés,
manipulés,
adressés à,
côtoyant la danse,
détruits
et créés …
Tous laissent entrevoir une poésie singulière, dialoguant dans le contexte du corps ‘nu’ du danseur.
Cette semaine sera pour nous l’occasion de se pencher sur ce sujet, travaillant le corps en profondeur et dans le contexte des objets sur scène.
Nous considèrerons et pratiquerons comment entrer dans des relations poétiques avec les objets : découvrir comment ils peuvent participer et ainsi révéler d’autres strates et profondeurs dans l’imaginaire de la performance.
- Biographie -
Julyen Hamilton est danseur, chorégraphe, poète, enseignant, musicien. Il crée et interprète des danses depuis 45 ans dans le monde entier. Il a créé plus de 100 solos ainsi que des pièces de compagnie pendant 20 ans, et a collaboré avec de nombreux.ses danseur.euse.s, musicien.ne.s et performeur.euse.s.
Né et élevé en Angleterre, il s’est formé à Londres dans les années 1970, période d’expérimentation radicale, et est depuis lors une figure représentative de la performance innovante.
Son travail chorégraphique est essentiellement improvisé : il compose des pièces de danse instantanément, ainsi que les textes qui les accompagnent. Son travail avec le texte est unique.
Il fusionne naturellement sa longue pratique de l’écriture avec ses compétences raffinées en matière de danse. Lorsqu’il travaille avec sa compagnie ALLEN’S LINE, il dirige des danseur.euse.s et des créateur.ice.s lumière pour créer et interpréter des œuvres à travers ce texte, dans cette même immédiateté.
Depuis les années 80, il se produit constamment en étroite collaboration avec de nombreux.ses musicien.ne.s de la plus haute qualité de toute l’Europe. C’est avec certain.e.s de ces musicien.ne.s qu’il donne des lectures de sa poésie.
Il interprète actuellement les solos INTERVIEW”, “HELD DEAR” et “a KOAN for our Times”, avec le bassiste Barre Phillips et Nuria Andorra, entre autres.
Avec sa compagnie ALLEN’S LINE, il a joué “The Eclipse of Reason” à Rome, Paris, Bruxelles et en France au cours de l’année 2022 et présentera ‘GOAT OCEAN’ tout au long de l’année 2023.
En tant que pianiste, il joue régulièrement avec Hamilton Carroll à Berlin et à Bruxelles. Leur premier cd ‘POINTER’ est sorti en 2016.
Son label “BLUEDOG PUBLISHING.net” produit des vidéos de ses performances sur DVD, CD et imprimés. Son nouvel album de poésie ‘Jack Gets Out of Prison’ avec le bassiste Wilbert de Joode est sorti en 2018 et ‘The Road to Amarillo’ piano/texte/basse avec Giorgos Kokkinaris est sorti en 2022.

This workshop is part of the Bodies in composition training cycle, a training course on instant composition. It is the third and last session of the course.
Two other workshops will take place in Novembre 24 with Agostina d'Alessandro and in January 25 with Maya M Carroll (The instrument).
This cours is designed for experienced dancers : professional dancers or dancers on the way to become professional, who have already practiced improvisation and have a mature knowledge of the principles of instant composition.
Priority will be given to those taking part in the whole course and who will benefit from an attractive price, while a few spots will be kept open for participants who can only join one or two weeks.
WHEN
The workshop will take place between 23.06.25 and 27.06.25. We will practice six hours a day.
The working hours will be : 10-17.30 with an hour and a half for lunch break.
WHERE
The classes will be held in the magnificent studio at the Centre Chorégraphique National, with a breathtaking view of the mountains.

Theater works : Working with Objects
Julyen Hamilton’s performances are characterised by a number of different reoccurring elements. These elements have been deeply researched and practiced over the years. They involve light / sound / space / text and speech ….and the use of objects.
His decor work and use of objects in the space is of essence and accompanies all of his theatre pieces.
OBjeCtS placed, handled, spoken to, danced beside, destroyed and created…all reveal a particular poetry especially when in the context of the ‘naked’ dancer’s body.
We will take a look at this subject, working the body thoroughly and in the context of objects ‘on stage’.
We will consider and practice how to enter into poetic relationships with objects and discover how they can participate and reveal further layers of imagery in performance.
- Biographie -
Julyen Hamilton is a dancer, choreographer, poet, teacher, musician. He has been making and performing dances for 45 years throughout the world. He has made over 100 solos as well as 20 years of Company pieces and numerous collaborations with dancers and musicians and theatre performers.
Born and brought up in England he trained in London in the 1970’s, a time of radical experimentation, he has been an exponent of innovative performance since that time. His work is mostly improvised : he composes dance works instantly as well as the texts which often accompany them. His work with text is unique.
It fuses naturally his long-term writing practice with his refined skills in dancing.
When working with his company ALLEN’S LINE he directs dancers and lighting designers to make and perform work through this same immediacy.
Since the 80’s he has performed constantly in close collaboration with many of the highest quality musicians from all over Europe.
It is with some of these musicians that he gives readings of his poetry. He is at present performing the solos ‘INTERVIEW’, ‘HELD DEAR’ and ‘a KOAN for our Times’ performing with bass player Barre Phillips and Nuria Andorra amongst many others.
