About this Event
This workshop is designed to share best practices for working with undocumented victims of human trafficking. Taught by Annell Vidal, Director of Immigration Advocacy at Sojourner House, and Patricia Rosas, Immigration Advocacy Specialist, this training will include an overview of labor trafficking, sex trafficking, and trauma-informed approaches; information about immigration options available to trafficking victims ("T" Visas, "U" Visas, etc.); and a discussion about common barriers they might face when seeking legal status.
Presented by: Annell Vidal (she/her/ella) Annell has been at Sojourner House for the past 7.5 years, assisting victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and trafficking. She is the Director of Immigration Advocacy and represents clients in cases of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.
Sojourner House is a victim services agency based in Rhode Island that has been providing safe shelter, housing, and life-saving supportive services to survivors of abuse since 1976. We invite survivors of domestic violence, sexual abuse, and human trafficking into spaces that are comfortable and empowering so they can begin to heal and rebuild their lives. Our advocates can make recommendations and connect victims with helpful resources, but most of all, they listen. They do not judge or pressure victims to make changes before they are ready.
