Strengths-based, culturally responsive strategies to support Black males’ resilience, healing & positive outcomes (2.5 clinical CEUs).
About this Event

African-American boys are overrepresented in our state's juvenile justice, foster care, and special education systems, to name a few. As men, they are often plagued by unemployment, violence and often, disrespect. This workshop aims to increase our understanding of Black males, their perspectives and their challenges, and to more fully equip social service helping professionals as they work with Black males from early childhood to adulthood. Utilizing a developmental, strengths-based approach, this workshop offers participants tested, culturally appropriate strategies that will aid Black males in their search for wholeness and healing. This workshop is approved for 2.5 clinical ceus.

At the conclusiong of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe the psychosocial challenges faced by black males
  2. Identify the strengths and resiliency factors of black males
  3. Demonstrate approaches and strategies to effectively serve black males

Dr. Torin Sanders, Ph.D., LCSW-BACS presents a dynamic and informative workshop, titled "Working with Black males across the life cycle span."

Sponsored by Title IV-E and the Southern University Community Resource Center (CRC)
