Second working bee for 2024...
Come meet our new Hub manager, Geri, who will be leading this working bee, and join our small and enthusiastic team of volunteers!
Meet at the main car park.. you'll see the garden along the fence at the back of the school.
If you have gloves and tools, a sunhat and some water.. good idea to bring them along! :)
We are looking forward to getting into a regular rhythm of working bees and developing and maintaining the garden, growing our volunteer group, and make it an exciting place for the students to participate in, and taste the yummy food that we'll grow together!
You can get involved in a variety of gardening related activities, whatever takes your fancy on the day. We'll be following up on what was achieved the previous week, and keep developing our ideas about what we'd like to see in this garden. Your input is welcome!

Why would you want to be there?
? Connection: Meet people, exchange cultural gardening stories, and foster a sense of belonging.
? Nature's Therapy: Dive into the therapeutic world of gardening, get active, put your hands to soil, and feel the instant gratification of a couple hours team work.
? Give Back: Promote local biodiversity, reduce carbon footprints, and respect the school as the core of our community.
? Purposeful Gardening: We’re nurturing an outdoor classroom for the kids whilst beautifying a common public thoroughfare in Te Atatu South.
? Refresh & Recharge: Some light refreshments will be provided to keep us energized. And you can take some produce home that is ready to be harvested.
About Doughnut Economics:
This project is a collaboration between Rangeview Intermediate and Doughnut Economics Advocates New Zealand (DEANZ). At its core, doughnut economics addresses the boundaries of ecological limits with societal needs. This garden is a manifestation of such principles, integrating urban permaculture practices to create a resilient, local food-waste system.
Plant Drive Alert! ?
In the spirit of community, we would love you to bring any seedlings you have to spare. If you have something special you want to plant on the day, please bring them along. Let's make this garden flourish with diversity and abundance!
Anyone and everyone are welcome. This is a fantastic opportunity to get involved in your local community, and take part in some positive environmental action. Let's get our hands dirty, have some fun, and make a difference together! Looking forward to seeing you there.
