Welcome to WLH community poetry Open Mic, a monthly event held on the second Tuesday of the month hosted by The Asterix*.This month's prompt is "change." Please feel free to bring poetry based around our monthly prompt.
These community poetry events are
-open to everyone in the community
-a space for creative expression
-intended to provide a safe space for people to explore and experience poetry
The Asterix* as an organization intends to provide a safe space for 2SLGBTQ+, the strategically undervalued members of our community, and their allies.
❤️ Everyone is welcome - queer, questioning, and allies.
🧡 We follow the Vegas Rule: what happens here stays here - safety first - please don't out your fellow community members.
💛 Ouch! Oops! - please hold yourself accountable in our space if you make a mistake, or say or do something hurtful, as we all do at times. Even if you had good intentions, please consider your impact
💚 We ask that if you are feeling unwell to please stay home and care for yourself
💙 This event is free to the public, but please consider purchasing a beverage or snack from our host venue, LoloBee's Lounge in appreciation for allowing us to use their space.
We ask that poems with sensitive or triggering content be prefaced with a warning so people may step away should they feel the need to. Please keep your time at the microphone under 3 minutes. You may have multiple opportunities to share.
Photos may be taken during these events to be posted on Facebook, if you do not want your photo taken, please let me know, or feel free to announce it at the microphone.
