About this Event

'The moon pulls the tides.

And we are pulled too…

To the giggling streams, the roaring waves and the yawning depths. Our own story began in water … so let it flow’

Join professional storyteller Emily Hanna-Grazebrook for an evening of twisted folktales and sumptuous songs from the rivers, lakes and seas.

With live music from CuriousHour and Cyrenaur.

______

Emily is a professional storyteller and singer from North London.

As the child of Irish tellers and folk singers, Emily has been telling stories and singing songs since she was very small. She grew up believing there were fairies in the forest, selkies in the sea and angels in the air.

Emily has a rich background in folk tales and songs, myths, legends and fairy tales, which she skilfully brings to life through the ancient art of oral storytelling.

As Dragonfly Tales, Emily has been performing to children and adult audiences in museums and schools, story and literary festivals and community events, for nearly ten years. She has performed at the Royal Academy of Arts, The National Gallery, The Horniman Museum, as well as story festivals such as The Glens Story Festival in Northern Ireland and Festival at the Edge.

Emily captivates adult audiences with her “Stories for all Seasons” evening shows. Described by audience members as ‘magical, heart-breaking, hilarious’, she weaves word play and audience participation with live music provided by the band she fronts CuriousHour.

Emily enjoys performing in weird and wonderful places- she has told stories in old monasteries, ancient woodland, caves, river boats, graveyards and even on a moving steam train.

Most importantly, she tells regularly to her son Leo. Emily believes that the role of a storyteller is to inspire the storyteller in others - she and young Leo currently host a children’s podcast series “Dragonfly Tales”, providing free stories for families. The podcast has listeners all over the world and has reached nearly 40,000 downloads.
