Worcester Hip-Hop: Cipher Through the Ages

Since 1979, Worcester artists have been creating and performing Hip-Hop music. Expressing their thoughts and feelings through the medium originating in the Bronx, these artists have contributed to a legacy of Hip-Hop culture within the city of Worcester.
This event will bridge a widening gap between the generations of Worcester Hip-Hop artists, by showcasing performances from a group of artists with a large age range. The group will include those who began recording music in the 80s, as well as artists who began recording in the 90s, 2000s, and 2010s, covering a 40-year span of participation in Hip-Hop culture. The differences in rhyme styles and music selection will be a glimpse into the sonic shift that has taken place over the decades.
The two DJs for this event will be DJ Kool Chris & DJ Kid Kash, representing the 80s & 00s respectively. Performances will be filmed and preserved for posterity and shared with the public.
