An introduction to woodworking covering basic techniques and the most commonly used woodworking machinery!About this Event
About the class:
This course is designed for the beginner looking to gain a basic introduction to woodworking skills and build their confidence in a professional wood shop environment. In this class each student will work side by side with our expert instructor and make a small step stool in just one day! The teaching points revolve around learning the basics of woodworking and confidence building techniques. Our hope is that you will walk away from this class proud of what you’ve made and eager to learn more!
What is covered:
- Milling of rough lumber
- Planer and jointer basics
- Table saw basics and crosscut sled use
- Proper router table use
- Small scale glue up techniques
Please Note:
- We require at least 2 participants to run a class. In the event we do not reach 2 participants we will reach out to reschedule or issue a refund if necessary.
- If the class is sold out and you have two or more people interested, please contact us directly to coordinate a new date.
- We also offer private instruction at $125 an hour. Please reach out to us directly if you’d like to schedule a private session.
- Minimum Age for Classes: 18, or 15 or older if accompanied by an adult
- Mandatory Safety Equipment: Safety Glasses, closed-toed shoes, full length pants and no loose fitting clothing or jewelry.
- Advisable but not required: Hearing protection, respirator or dust mask
- Tickets are nonrefundable (unless class is canceled) and can not be used for another date.
- Maketory is a membership based facility. Our classes also serve as a certification to operate the machinery covered in the class independently as a member (valid for 60 days after class is taken).
