ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
McColl Center lab professional Kristen Rowell is a multi-media artist from Beaufort, South Carolina. She received her Bachelor of Fine Art in sculpture and painting from Winthrop University. Now residing in Charlotte, North Carolina, she works at Central Piedmont Community College as the Visual Arts Coordinator and at McColl Center as the ceramics, woodshop, and sculpture labs assistant. She uses many different materials when creating her abstract and representational works, including cinder blocks, steel, wood, sand, graphite, paint, and non-traditional materials such as spices. She enjoys prompting the viewer to think about the materials, movement, and motifs of her art and how each relates to their own personal human experience.
