Curious about woodworking but unsure where to begin? This four-session beginner’s course will introduce you to the essential tools, materials, and techniques to confidently start working with wood. Through hands-on projects and guided instruction, you’ll build foundational skills that can be expanded on through further practice or future classes. What to Expect:
- Session One: Safety first! We’ll cover essential hand tools and power tools, how to use them safely, and how to choose the right wood for different projects. We’ll also start our first project—a small serving tray—to practice fundamental techniques.
- Session Two: We’ll explore joinery—how to connect pieces of wood—and introduce screws, nails, glues, and clamps. Then, we’ll continue assembling our serving tray.
- Session Three: Time for a second project! We’ll start building a sturdy step stool, applying new joinery techniques while learning about finishing methods.
- Session Four: We’ll complete the step stool, focusing on final assembly and finishing touches to protect and enhance the wood.
Each session is packed with hands-on learning, practical tips, and plenty of time for questions. Whether you’re dreaming of furniture-making or just want to get comfortable with a saw and drill, this class is the perfect place to start your woodworking journey!
