Woodturning Summer Camp (Ages 13-17)

A summer camp for girls and gender expansive kids* age 13-17

Let’s learn to turn!

During this camp, students will learn to safely use a lathe and specially sharpened gouges to cut spinning wood. This is both scary and exhilarating!! And, it can take years and years of practice to get really good at — but the basics can easily be learned in an afternoon. This class is great for kids who enjoy perfecting skills through repetition.

Financial Aid is available to families in need.

Accessibility notes

• The majority of our studio is not climate controlled.
• Students will be exposed to a frequently dusty space with loud machinery.
• Parts of this workshop may be held in a computer lab, which is only accessible by one flight of stairs.

* Our goal is to serve under-resourced communities, female-identified, and gender expansive students to help bridge the gender gap in STEAM fields and trades, and create excitement and curiosity around these fields. We ask families to understand that there is limited space in our classes, and know that we welcome students of all genders and demographics.
