About this Event
Now more than ever, architects and building product manufacturers in BC are collaborating closely to meet building code requirements, to expedite construction, and to find synergies and efficiencies in realizing their design intent. The efforts of architects and BC manufacturers working together are creating a future where architecture has more diverse aesthetic possibilities, and buildings are becoming more sustainable, efficient, and responsive to the needs of society.
In this workshop, BC manufacturer Rohe Homes will discuss expediting construction using Prefabrication as a tool, and how Architects can take this tool and craft new designs and unique building systems. Features will cover foldable pre-fab systems, prefabrication times, transport capabilities, assembly ease, integration within existing projects, costing, functionality and sustainability.
BC manufacturer West Coast Windows will discuss Energy performance and BC Step Code – U-Values and Solar Heat Gain Coefficient – How they work together - Double glazing and Triple glazing, LoE coatings – What combinations work best -NAFS testing and Energy certification – Why is this important - Wood and vinyl hybrid windows – and Why we choose only to have wood on the interior of the window.
BC manufacturer MATT Concrete will discuss eco-friendly low carbon concrete panels which attain an unparalleled, sophisticated concrete aesthetic for your walls, fireplace surrounds, and ceilings. In addition to its aesthetic appeal, it stands out as an environmentally conscious product, incorporating sustainably sourced wood for its backing. It’s a concrete panel with a plywood core!
