WOODLAND WONDERS & SOUND A family gathering in nature
Step outside, slow down, and reconnect — with the land, the seasons, and each other.
This gathering invites families into the woodland to explore the natural world around us: the plants growing at your feet, the insects and birds sharing the space, the soil beneath it all. Together we'll learn to read the landscape and carry that knowledge home — into your garden, your balcony pots, or your community growing space.
What we'll explore:
Identifying local plants, herbs, and vegetation
Understanding your soil, seeds, and the rhythm of the seasons
Growing your favourite herbs, fruits, and vegetables
Composting and caring for the land in harmony with nature
Recognising local insects, birds, and natural habitats
What we'll do together:
Hands-on planting, growing, and experimenting
Discovering and exploring the woodland area
Storytelling and sharing knowledge in a group setting
Making and listening to music in nature
This is a wonderful opportunity for children and adults to discover nature side by side — learning together, playing together, and growing together. A space that is practical, unhurried, and open to all ages. Everyone brings something: whether that's years of gardening experience or simply curiosity.
The best part? Whatever you learn here, you can take home, share with your family, and pass on to your community.
Families of all shapes and sizes are warmly welcome. No experience needed — just bring yourselves and your curiosity.
Meet Karin
Karin is a holistic practitioner and mother whose deepest passion is plants — and the profound way nature has of bringing us back to ourselves. She works in her own private holistic practice, weaving together her knowledge of the natural world with her dedication to people's wellbeing.
A familiar and trusted presence at the Planetary Healing Centre, Karin has been supporting its work in various roles since 2021 — including delivering various woodland sessions over the years. In this gathering, she brings her warmth, her plant wisdom, and her gift for helping others slow down, look closer, and feel genuinely at home in the natural world.
Meet Paul
Paul is a keen gardener and musician whose two great passions meet in the natural world. Inspired by nature in everything he creates, he is perhaps best known in the woodland for the hauntingly beautiful sounds of his handpan drum — playing for the community, or simply playing for the trees.
A supporter of the Planetary Healing Centre's Grow Food at Home project, Paul brings both his hands-on growing knowledge and his love of music to this gathering. If you've spent time in the woodland, there's a good chance you've already heard him.
What to bring: Please wear outdoors closed footwear and clothing. Layers are recommended. Bring a picnic and water. Hot tea will be provided.
Parental Responsibility Statement
Parents are responsible for their children at all times during the sessions. Ensuring the safety and well-being of their children is paramount. We encourage active participation and supervision to create a supportive and enriching environment for everyone involved.
