These walks are taking place as part of the Spring in the Woods event.
Ecclesall Woods host a rich diversity of tree and plant species, making them the ideal setting to experience the wonderous complexity of woodland ecosystems. On this walk we'll look at how humans have historically shaped the landscape as well as how the woods are managed today, with nature in mind.
All attendees will be provided with a link to a downloadable tree ID sheet prepared to accompany the walk. This lists the key tree species that are found in this location and the characteristics by which they can be identified. We will also be on the lookout for notable and veteran trees – tape measures will be provided to help establish their age.
This walk is part of a series hosted by Sheffield Woodland Connections throughout the city.

Adult tickets are £8 plus booking fee, kids go free.
Although the walk route will stick to main footpaths, it will include some moderate slopes and it is best assumed that paths are muddy. The on site coffee shop will be open until 4pm.
Meet outside the main entrance to the Woodland Discovery Centre building, 5 minutes before the stated start time. Vehicle parking near Ecclesall Woods can be difficult on the weekends, please leave plenty of time to get to the venue.
