After the success of last year's event, we’re thrilled to invite you to The 2025 Young Woodland Management Workshop. Join us at our Fordham Hall Estate in Essex to learn how to manage woodland planted in the last 20 years. Whether your objective is to enhance biodiversity or to produce timber, this workshop will outline how you can create a resilient and thriving young woodland.
We’ll tour our 1.5ha demonstration woodland, seeing firsthand the positive impact of pruning and thinning operations. We’ll discuss important considerations such as tree selection, access creation and the wood products these operations produce.
Over a cup of coffee, we will cover essential topics around felling licenses, working with contractors and how to deal with threats to your woodland’s survival.
Connect with fellow woodland owners and gain valuable insight that will enable you to manage your woodland with confidence.

Important information to note:
- Terrain - we will be walking for approximatly 1.5km on unpaved, possibly muddy footpaths and forest tracks
- Clothes and footwear - Wear clothing and boots suitable for walking within a woodland. Please ensure boots are clear of visible mud
- Guidance on dogs - Due to the nature of the activity, dogs will not be permitted.
- Parking on arrival - Please park in the main Fordham Hall carpark.
- Toilet access - Toilets in the village hall, not on site.
