Instruction will also be provided on proper tool safety, and maintenance.
You can choose from a couple available patterns, or bring your own image to work on. After 5 weeks, you will leave the class with a finished 8x8 inch basswood carving. Wood and carving tools will be provided, although you are welcome to bring your own tools if you have them.
No prior experience is required, suitable for ages 16+.
Bas-relief is a type of sculpting in which parts of a block are chipped away to leave a raised, 3-dimensional design. This is done to give added three-dimensionality to an artwork, though it is much flatter than its counterpart, high relief.
