START/ FIN: Traralgon
WHAT BIKE: A gravel bike >40mm tyres.
COST: The ride is free. You will need to arrange accommodation in Jamieson and potentially in Traralgon too. A shared room in Jamieson will cost about $60.
WHO: This ride is for all women/trans/non-gender conforming riders, who want to have a go at a self-supported, challenging ride in the company of others.
This isn’t the moment for your first 200km ride as it’s TWO solid 200km rides back to back. However, there is still time to hit this milestone before the event in Feb.
WHAT IS JAM FOR JAMIESON:
For the uninitiated, Jam for Jamieson is an off-road route that features in the Audax Victoria calendar. With this in mind, it’s in keeping with other Audax offerings; no hike a bike, nothing super steep or crazy BUT the challenge of riding this route outside of Audax time is that there’s not much in the way of resupply for solid stretches and it’s pretty hilly out there; one of those hills is Mount Skene! This variation of the 300km Audax route starts and finishes at Traralgon; making it almost 400km round trip. This route may well have people riding in the dark to get to Jamieson after dinner time.
You may be riding with others but you must be prepared to ride on your own, at your own pace - there is no sag wagon, support and at times there is no phone service either.
