The responsibilities of caregiving for family, friends, and communities, alongside demanding careers or volunteering, often take a toll on women’s wellness. The effects may be felt in our mental or spiritual health, or eventually, our physical health. If we are to continue at this pace, we need to find rest, support, tools, and resources to cope, as we continue to contribute our time and souls to those we love. It we take time to gather together, we can share these tools and resources with one another, accept that we are in this together, support one another, and continue doing these tasks while protecting our wellness. Each week we’ll share and discuss a scheduled topic, but also check in with one another to gauge our individual “okay-ness.” Facilitated by Heather Gleason.
Week 1. Sharing Healing Techniques Everyone has something to contribute! Does something specific stress you out? Share the coping tools and techniques you use!
Week 2. What is Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response (ASMR) Finding calm and relaxation (and often sleep) in this bizarre yet effective new trend.
Week 3. Inspirational Poetry and Readings Bring your favorite poems, short stories, affirmations, and podcasts that bring you a sense of peace or happiness.
Week 4. Learning how to breathe Have you tried conscious breathing or meditation? Has it worked to calm you? We’ll discuss meditation, reiki, and other methods to bring about balance.
Week 5. Giving thanks Healing begins with gratitude. Together we’ll make a list and encourage one another to explore gratitude in our daily lives.
Week 6. Winter Solstice We’ll explore some solstice rituals, embrace winter, and let go of the old to make room for new opportunities.
About the facilitator:
Heather Gleason is a member at FPCRO and a Sunday school teacher. Her professional background is in dance and public relations. She is also a student of library technical services and enjoys doing research to find the answers to life’s complex questions. She has been looking for a women’s group with whom to share ideas and support since 2021. It was suggested that she start one! Heather will bring to this group various topics, examples, questions, and resources in the form of books, articles, and videos along with a list of local opportunities to provide further wellness outside of the group.
