About Estes Park
Situated about 90 miles northwest of Denver, at 7,522 feet above sea level, Estes Park sits in the heart of the Rocky Mountains. Majestic views span in every direction along with the majestic scenes you expect from a Colorado mountain town: gold-medal fishing rivers, iconic peaks, fertile valleys dotted with wildlife plus one unexpected treasure - a national park. Rocky Mountain National Park, home to 300 miles of hiking trails within 415 square miles of protected mountain wilds, borders Estes Park at its eastern entrance.
Since the late 1860s when Griff Evans established a dude ranch here, Estes Park has been welcoming guests with spectacular scenery and hospitality to match. Nearly 50 years later, F.O. Stanley of steam car fame further perpetuated the town's reputation as a resort destination when he opened his sophisticated namesake hotel. And on goes the rich history and notable legacy of offering guests an experience like no other.
Not surprisingly, mountain exploration remains a mainstay. Outdoor adventures run the gamut from hiking to snowshoeing to rock climbing. Scenic drives show off the area, with Trail Ridge Road rising through the national park to more than 12,000 feet and several others wending through the valley, past historic landmarks and parallel to the fish-filled picturesque rivers.
In the town and along its edges, merchants, restaurants and accommodations acknowledge their Colorado surroundings by selling locally made products, serving regional fare and decorating in ranch, Western or lodge styles. Affordable, accessible and open year-round, downtown exudes a casual feel in which jeans and cowboy boots are as common as sundresses and flip-flops. That said, some restaurants also cater to travelers seeking an upscale night out. Even in the shops and galleries, variety spins from high-end, one-of-a-kind items to whimsical trinkets.
Wildlife is so plentiful that elk often wander downtown streets. Visitors spy them and other animals while walking the path around Lake Estes, driving toward the Historic Fall River Hydroplant or touring Estes Park's last remaining working cattle ranch, MacGregor Ranch. Sometimes, it seems, the region's furry creatures outnumber the humans!
With all its adventures and amenities, including the bench-lined Riverwalk and charming sculpture garden, it's no wonder that Estes Park repeatedly earns recognition as a top destination. It has earned awards from TripAdvisor, Colorado Parent, the Weather Channel and many Colorado newspapers. After all, it boasts a strong history-and present-of hosting visitors with an authentic easiness that's congruent with a dream getaway to Rocky Mountain paradise.

About Rocky Mountain National Park
Experience a Land of Extremes!
Rocky Mountain National Park's 415 square miles (265,807 acres) encompasses a spectacular range of mountain environments.
From meadows found in the montane life zone to the glistening lakes in the subalpine zone and to the mountain peaks located in the alpine zone, there is something for everyone to discover. Along the way explore over 300 miles of hiking trails and incredible wildlife viewing.
Rocky Mountain National Park is one of the most visited national parks in the country. With majestic peaks in every direction, wildlife roaming the valleys and some of the most incredible outdoor adventures on the planet, it is no wonder more than three million people flock to the park each year.
THE MOUNTAINS
Within the boundaries of Rocky Mountain National Park, more than 100 peaks rise above 11,000 feet in altitude, including Longs Peak at 14,259 feet. These amazing mountains cradle the Estes Valley, providing residents and guests with incredible beauty and inspiration. Many of the taller peaks make up the Continental Divide, where snowmelt runs either west to the Pacific Ocean or east to the Atlantic. The park's vistas are accessible by horseback, on foot, or by car - the most notable vehicle route being Trail Ridge Road, the highest continuously paved highway in North America. No matter your level of interest, adventure awaits you while viewing, exploring and appreciating this breathtaking collection of mountains.
REAL WILDLIFE
While it is possible to travel through Rocky Mountain National Park and not catch sight of any wildlife, we venture to say that is an unlikely experience. From everyday sightings of chipmunks and mule deer to the moving experience of viewing elk in rut (the mating season), the animals in the park let you know that you are part of something truly wild. Some of these critters are harder to spot than others - they might camouflage themselves in the trees or hide in the underbrush - but look closely and you may have an encounter unlike any other.
INCREDIBLE ADVENTURES
The outdoor adventurer remains busy throughout the year in Rocky Mountain National Park. Open 365 days a year, there are activities and sports throughout the summer/fall and winter/spring seasons. Whether looking for a new route to an adrenaline rush, or simply enjoying a favorite pastime, Rocky Mountain National Park's unique and varied landscapes offer something fun.
PARK AMENITIES
In addition to its natural wonders, Rocky Mountain National Park provides services and amenities to make your experience special and stress-free. Look through the visitor information and stop by a visitor center to gather all the tidbits you need to know, such as where you're going, what to do and how to prepare. Download the official National Park Service app to help you plan your trip to Rocky Mountain National Park.
Visit the official Rocky Mountain National Park website or call the RMNP information line, 970-586-1206

YOGA
We will be practicing once some days, and twice on most days and will be explore breath work, precise alignment and energetics of postures, the blueprint postures, meditation, reading and seeing bodies, the 8 limbs of yoga and living our yoga off the mat, restoratives, and more. We will begin most days with a morning practice and meet back on the mat in the afternoon for a workshop and asana lab to dive into and break down the asanas and practice in greater depth.

MEDITATION
We will enjoy guided meditation and will explore the style of Vipassana meditation also known as insight meditation. Within this style we will explore a variety of methods including breath meditation, and heart meditations including a compassion meditation and a metta or living kindness meditation. We will talk about the basics of meditation, finding a comfortable seat, and the roots of mindfulness.

Hiking
We will be getting out for a hike together in RMNP to further immerse in the fall leaves and forest surrounding us. Please plan on some uphill and incline hiking as many of RMNP hikes go up up up for those exquisite mountain and lake views, as well as mud, and even potentially snow. Layers are a great idea, gloves, a hat, a hiking pack, water, hiking poles if wished, and good hiking shoes or boots.
