South Western Ontario hiking groups are co-hosting a choose-your-own-adventure waterfall hike to celebrate the women in our lives on Women’s Day. ALL are welcome! Women - we encourage you to bring the people who love and support you, regardless of gender. Men- bring the women in your lives, or just bring yourself to celebrate. This is an LGBQT+ inclusive event.Parking:
City View Park - South Parking lot, 2500 Kerns Rd, Burlington. Parking is free and carpooling is encouraged.
Day/ Time:
Saturday, March 8, 9:45am. We will wait 15 minutes for any late arrivals and start promptly at 10am.
Part A:
Bruce Trail out & back to the top of Smokey Hollow Falls (~ 9kms, 3 hours at a moderate pace)
Leads: Crystal, Katy, Dorothy & Jay
Part B:
Lunch break & extension to the base/ interior of Smokey Hollow Gorge (additional 2 hours at a chill wandering pace until we head back to the Bruce Trail.)
Leads: Jay & Dorothy
Difficulty level: Intermediate due to length - Terrain is partly uneven ground, mostly flat with some gradual inclines and declines. Weather may be a factor in difficulty (expect a combination of mud, ice and/or snow)
What to bring:
- if it’s snowing and/or below zero, crampons will be required for safety in case of icy trails
- appropriate hiking boots with treads in case of mud
- Water for drinking (2-3L)
- Gaitors recommended for both mud and snow
- Poles if desired
- Layers: it may be cold and wet and you may sweat and get hot
- Snacks and/or a lunch (if doing part B)
- Sun protection
