About this Event
Welcome to the Women's Wellness Day Retreat, hosted by Wild Women Hawai'i!
Join us for a day of rejuvenation, wellness, and connection in a peaceful outdoor setting. This retreat is designed for women to come together, unwind, and experience a variety of offerings from skilled women in the community. Take this opportunity to focus on self-care and personal growth while surrounded by a community of like-minded women.
**note that the exact address of the retreat will be provided to guests upon registration. We will meet under shaded marquee canopies in Akolea Estates on the Kaumana side of Hilo.**
This event is designed for women ages 30 to 65; however, we will not turn away women outside the midlife age range. Please do not bring children, pets, or guests.
Picnic Potluck: Please bring a vegetarian or vegan appetizer/pupu to share for our picnic lunch (to serve 4). Since we will be eating outside on blankets, please bring finger foods that are easy to serve and eat. Some examples are spring rolls, mini quiche, vegan sushi, tapas, cheese and crackers, mini muffins, mochi, etc. (Because the topic is wellness, please do not bring processed food or fast food.)
Volunteers from the community will join us for mini-workshops that include:
- Acupressure with Erica Clarkson DPT, DAOM
- BodyAwake Yoga with Leigh Knittle
- Breath for Health with Sara Krosch
- Voice Activating Sound Bath with Marisol Nelson

Volunteer Facilitators
Erica Clarkson DPT, DAOM is a Doctor of Physical Therapy and a Doctor of acupuncture and Oriental medicine. "I will demonstrate and lead the group through various acupressure* points for relaxation. We will stimulate each point at least 20 seconds to experience the energy changes. If time permits, I will move on to healing points as well." Note from Wild Women Hawai'i: acupressure should not be confused with acupuncture. Both are Chinese medicine (TCM) techniques that stimulate acupoints to promote healing. Acupuncture involves inserting needles, while acupressure uses pressure. This workshop uses pressure.
Leigh Knittle is trained in BodyAwake Yoga (BAY) which involves anchoring the consciousness in the core of the body, shifting our vibrational reality in which we are functioning, and rewriting old patterns. "We will begin with toning to ground, followed by breath-work with easy movements to cultivate prana in the body, then, a few easy asanas to raise our vibration, open and ignite the heart, rewrite old patterns, and, anchor consciousness in the body. Finally, we will drop into savasana. Short and sweet!" Leigh is Morter Institute Certified: Group Facilitator, The Energy Codes Teachings and Practices, Practitioner, Bio Energetic Synchronization Technique (B.E.S.T.), Spiritual B.E.S.T., and Instructor of BodyAwake Yoga.
Sara Krosch is a certified breath coach, group fitness and yoga instructor, personal trainer, and director of the health promotion nonprofit organization Vivawell.org. Breath for Health: Build awareness of stress responses and learn simple, effective breathing practices to energize, balance or calm your nervous system throughout your day. Walk away with new skills, practical experience, and a reference handout.
Marisol Nelson will offer a voice-activating sound bath that helps each woman reconnect with her voice and embrace her authentic self. She will incorporate humming with bowls to help open the throat chakra and relax the Vagus nerve.
Michelle Gallagher Escobar founded Wild Women Hawai'i to unite women in mutual support, empowerment, and sisterhood in a nonjudgmental safe space. She organizes and facilitates nature-based weekend and day retreats on the Big Island for women to unite, liberate, and reconnect.
The purpose of Wild Women Hawai'i is to strengthen our bond as women and to experience community and overall wellness. Religious indoctrination is not welcome or intended. Political debate is not welcome or intended. We generate a field of trust and truth in our circles, and we want each woman to feel safe in gifting their story. Most women who attend our retreats are between the ages of 30 and 65, however, we welcome women of all ages from 21 to wise women.
