We put insurance on our homes, vehicles, businesses, health, etc. Self-defense lessons are like having an insurance policy on our personal safety. There are many ways to defense yourself. One way involves the use of lethal and non-lethal weapons. But it's true that you may not always be able to get to your weapon. That's when you need to become the weapon! In honor of International Day for the End of Violence Against Women, We will have a donation-based, Women's Self-Defense Seminar 2:30PM on Sunday, November 24 2024.
For ages 10 and up.
What to expect
You will learn simple strikes and hold escapes from standing and from the ground. Behavioral techniques that will address how to make it out of different self-defense scenarios. While it's true that there's a variety of martial arts systems that are very effective, the fact is that they are most effective when practiced correctly and regularly. This seminar will focus on basic, easy techniques. Simple and practical will be the goal for this seminar.

What to bring
Please arrive 10 mins early to sign your waiver. No equipment is needed. You may bring bag gloves if you prefer. Wear workout/gym clothes that will accommodate kicking, punching and moving on the ground. There will be mats and pads in the studio to keep us safe. Please, no shoes on the mats. Bring water and a towel if you'd like to. We will be barefoot on the mats. Water and bag gloves are available for purchase at UJJ (while supplies last).
