About this Event
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) is the most effective fighting style when in close quarters or on the ground. BJJ promotes the concept that a smaller, weaker person can successfully defend themselves against a bigger, stronger, heavier assailant making it the perfect form of self-defense for women to learn. Because BJJ takes place in close quarters and on the ground its often intimidating for women.. Come learn why BJJ is an excellent workout and a self-defense must.
During this workshop you will learn:
- What Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is
- Benefits of BJJ in terms of self-defense and fitness
- Basic fundamental positions and sweeps
- How BJJ can get you more in touch with your body
- How ground self-defense could save your life and empower you
What to know about this workshop:
- It's offered in a relaxed, non-threatening environment
- You will be working with other women
- The class is ideal for beginners and no prior experince is required
- You will leave feeling empowered

Cost and additonal information:
- Tickets are $25 to non-members, free to current members of GVMA
- Seminar is for ladies ages 13 and up
- Wear comfortable clothing and bring a bottle of water
- Class starts at 6pm so show up 10-15 minutes early
- Wear long tights and a long sleeve shirt
