This event is to celebrate women's empowerment, share your glorifying uplifting stories to inspire Canadian immigrants. Violence against women and girls (VAWG) is one of the most widespread and devastating human rights violations in our world today remains largely unreported due to silence, stigma and shame. To raise awareness, wear Orange. Orange is our color to represent a brighter future free of violence. Be part of the orange movement! This day was created by the United Nations in 1981. Women’s activist pushed for this date after the brutal assassination of three sisters, political activists in Dominican Republic.
