Event location to be confirmed.
Welcome to the very first Red Tent event of Southland. This is a gathering for women of all ages; from those who have begun menstruation (around age 10-11) all through to cronehood and those wahine who no longer bleed but have transitioned into their wise women phase of life.
Red Tents are inclusive, supportive spaces of community where women come to be, learn about healing, speak about trauma, drink cacao, play with arts and crafts, sit in circle, speak their truth, share their wisdom, and listen to the wellbeing wisdom of our guest speakers; local woman embodying wellness in our community.
Traditionally Red Tents were monthly gatherings, honored in more traditional times, when men within the tribe would go hunting as women connected, shared and bled together.
We wont be 'bleeding together' in the Red Tent Circle, but we will be returning to ways of being that include community.
Facilitated by Local Coach, Artist and Ecotherapist, Stephanie MacDonald, (who goes by Steph Mac online), she is a Qualified Red Tent Facilitator, a Reiki healer, NLP Practitioner, Qualified Life Coach, an author of three books, held an art exhibition called 'Creatrix' and has held many Somatic Art workshops within Southland.
Her body of work is an embodied fusion of earth, art and womanhood.
How is art, earth and womanhood connected?
Our ability to create as women is one of our greatest gifts; being holders of wombs that are full of sacred, powerful magic and inherent wisdom.
We dont just create babies; we create art, projects, ways of being, as we are continually creating our lives.
Mother Earth has not been honored as of recent times, yet she is the ultimate 'life-giving creator' as she teaches us the life-death-life cycle, as described in the works of Clarissa Pinkola Estes who wrote the famous book 'Women who run with the Wolves'.
Come along and sit in circle as we share, laugh, lighten, listen, create and release conditioned shame.
Please note - it is normal to feel scared, nervous and anxious for the first three circles you attend. We have not been brought up in environments that allow us to process emotions, express our true selves, speak our authentic truth, and unapologetically be ourselves.
This is your invitation to take up space, come home to your body, and own who you are; all the parts that you love and may not have accepted yet.
All of you is welcome here.
Investment for each circle is $30 which covers cacao and any creative materials.
Tickets are essential: there are no door sales.
These are anticipated to be held monthly and will in time, include a crone circle (wise women circle), younger womens circle, and eventually a mens circle.
