Presented by NSCC’s Centre of Forest Innovation in collaboration with the Cape Breton Privateland Partnership and the Forestry Sector Council, this two-day pilot program is designed for women interested in developing safe and practical chainsaw handling skills.This NSCC-led course focuses on essential chainsaw safety, equipment use, and risk assessment. You'll gain hands-on experience in limbing and bucking, working directly with certified trainers in a supportive environment to build your skills and confidence.

Gittens Lodge, 420 McLeod Rd, Manganese Mines (near Truro)
When:
November 15 & 16, from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM each day
Cost:
$120 registration fee (plus HST) – subsidized by NSCC’s Centre of Forest Innovation.
Limited to the first ten registered participants.
Important Information:
Please bring your own CSA-approved steel-toe boots and meals (lunch and snacks). All other personal protective equipment (PPE), chainsaws, maintenance equipment, and fuel will be provided. If you have your own saw and PPE, we encourage you to bring them along. Using your own equipment during the course will help you feel more comfortable and confident when practicing your skills at home.
