A practical, hands-on basic mechanics class open to everyone where you will learn how to repair and maintain your own bike.The class is ideal for those with no previous cycle mechanic experience and there will be lots of opportunity for questions and extra cycling tips and tricks. Led by women, for women you will learn at your own pace.
Come to our Women In Tandem workshop at Chaucer Court Workshops, Chaucer Street, Nottingham, NG1 5LP .
Together we will cover:
-Bike Safety Checks
-Puncture Repair
-Tyre Assessment
-Setting up your bike for maximum comfort and efficiency.
You will need:
-Your Bike
-Your own refreshments
-Comfortable warm clothing you don’t mind getting mucky. (we don't have heating)
We will provide all the tools and necessary equipment you need for the course but we would always welcome donations.
This session is organised by Women in Tandem, a Community Interest Company based in Nottingham that aims to support and empower women to ride bikes. It is part of our Travel Well project in partnership with Nottingham City Council and funded by Active Travel England. All attendees will need to complete a registration survey for our funders. You can save time completing it before (click here) or you can complete it on one of our devices at the workshop.
This enables us to also give each attendee FREE 'Essential Bike Repair Kit' that is yours to take home! (including a hand pump, tyre levers, dumbbell spanner and puncture repair kit ).
Note this class is open to self-identifying women who are Nottingham City residents.
Help & Support
Childcare : You can bring your kids! Whilst the children remain the responsibility of their adult, a DBS checked volunteer will be on hand to provide activities so you can adults can fully focus on their bikes. Please let us know at least one week beforehand how many children you will be bringing
Cancellation: If you can't make it, PLEASE LET US KNOW in advance so we know who to expect and aren't left waiting.
Parking: Please note that we do not have designated parking spaces, you can park on Chaucer street but it’s £2.60 per hour. We’d recommended cycling.
