If you’re thinking about running for office now or in the future, or want to support other women who run, Women Run is for you!
Join Assistant Mayor Joanna "Jo" Kelley, City Councilor Kate Cook and School Board Member Pip Clews for a conversation about increasing women in local office on Thursday, August 21, from 5:30pm - 7:00pm at LANEY & LU in Portsmouth. Gain the knowledge and confidence to make a difference in your community.
The Portsmouth filing period is open from September 2 - September 16 and now is the time to learn how you can get involved — whether by running or by supporting women who do. Women Run is the Granite State's only nonpartisan program empowering and training women to run for state and local office.

Women Run is the Granite State's only nonpartisan program empowering and training women to run for state and local office.
When women serve in office, regardless of party, they are more likely to support policies that benefit women and girls and are more likely to work across the aisle to reach consensus. However, women represent only 36% of the New Hampshire Legislature. In addition, 38% of New Hampshire towns do not have a single woman on their Select Board. And there is only ONE woman Mayor in New Hampshire.
When women run for office, they are just as likely to win as men, however women are less likely to run unless they are encouraged by others.
Let’s change the political landscape in New Hampshire by empowering more women to run for office!
Our Women Run program gives women the tools, confidence, and community they need to raise their hands and run, or help other women get elected!
We are excited to be hosting in-person Women Run events across New Hampshire this summer ahead of City Elections in November. For more information visit: https://nhwomensfoundation.org/women-run/
