WOMEN Leading The Way: Where The HeART Is A safe space to discuss the side effects of ARV medicines and promote messages of strength from the perspectives of Women impacted by HIV.
About this Event

There is a pressing need for Women-Centered and Women-Led safe spaces for People Living With HIV. As an Indigenous Community Researcher, Claudette Cardinal has led arts-based projects, including the ART OF The Matter…Double Vision and The Stat’s Talk Back 2.0. This third ancillary event titled, WOMEN Leading The Way: Where The HeART Is, aims to bring more voices to the fold to discuss the side effects of ARV drugs and promote strengths-based messages to uplift our spirits, specifically from the perspective of Women impacted by HIV.

Registration Details: Please note that you will need to register for the session(s) that you will be participating in.

Event Description:

Part 1:

In the first part of the event, Women Living With HIV will be invited to share their experiences and stories of how HIV has affected their lives, using the Heart, Body, Mind, and Spirit through the Medicine Wheel approach (emotional, physical, mental, spiritual). Elder Sheila Nyman and Claudette Cardinal will guide the conversation.

Part 2:

In the second part of the event, we will open to a broader audience by inviting Allies, Researchers, Community Members, and Trainees. The ART OF The Matter…Double Vision video will be shown again, accompanied by a summary of the comments and reactions obtained from the morning session with the permission to present a summary.
