An all day event dedicated to the women involved in the Reggae Sound System Scene
About this Event

For the first time in Bristol, an all-day event dedicated to the women involved in the Reggae Sound System scene.
As an International Women’s Day celebration, this event will put together the vision of women with different backgrounds but with something in common: Reggae music and Sound System Culture.

From 5 pm till late, female reggae artists will share their experiences and bring the best tunes to the Kuumba Centre, joining our Ambassador collective Simaly Sound.

Presentation and screening of "The Bass of Women"
As a celebration of international women, we will screen the Catalan documentary "The Bass of Women” A feminist perspective about the situation and work of women within Soundsystem culture in Barcelona - Spain just before the pandemic, in 2019.

The Feminine Experience in the UK Reggae Sound System Culture.
After we will learn more about the feminine experience in the UK through our main artists and guests:
Impressa Sound & Alexis from Manchester
Sisters in Dub from Coventry
Bingyi Empress from Bristol
