DO NOT MISS THIS! If you have a junior high aged daughter, granddaughter or student, do not miss this event! What is it like to write code for iPhone Apps and work for companies like Google, Apple and Facebook? What does it take to be a clinical psychologist, criminologist, or to see inside a heart? And perhaps more importantly, how does one begin to travel the distance from middle school to a dynamic career in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) fields expected to generate higher paying jobs for today’s students?
The Women in STEM Conference is an event designed to inform and inspire middle school girls to become the next generation of scientists, engineers, mathematicians and computer scientists. The conference is a collaborative effort, co-sponsored by the American Association of University Women (AAUW) Redding, CA Branch, Shasta Robotics and Advanced Manufacturing and the Shasta County Office of Education. Girls in 6th, 7th and 8th grades select four interactive, hands-on sessions presented by professional women - designed to engage, empower and inspire them in STEM careers.
