About this Event

Welcome to the Women in St Alfege Tour!

Come join us at St Alfege Church on Tue 14 May 2024 at 17:30 for an exciting tour highlighting the remarkable women who have shaped the history of this historic church. Discover the stories of influential female figures who have made a lasting impact on St Alfege and the community.

March 2024 marks 30 years since the first women in the Church of England were ordained as priests and we are delighted to launch a new tour during Women History Month. Join us to hear the fascinating stories of women connected to St Alfege Church and the role they played through the centuries – from organists to bellringers, from scientists to suffragettes. Get a unique chance to visit the bell ringing chamber and take a closer look at rare historic manuscripts from the church’s archive.

This in-person event will take you on a journey through time, exploring the contributions of women in various aspects of the church's history. Don't miss this unique opportunity to learn, connect, and celebrate the important role of women in St Alfege!
