About this Event

ScotRail is committed to creating a more inclusive and diverse workforce to close the gender gap and empower women to enter and thrive in the rail industry.

Join us at an exciting female careers event where you will learn first-hand what it means to be a train driver at ScotRail – there’s so much to gain from being part of Scotland’s Railway.

Whether you're starting your career and exploring your options, or are looking for a career change, we are running a careers event on Wednesday, 1st October 2025 in Atrium Court, 50 Waterloo Street, Glasgow at 6:15pm. The event will run for approximately 2 hours.

We have limited spaces on the day so to ensure you can come along and find out more about becoming a trainee driver, please book your free ticket.


On the day

· Get first-hand knowledge of the role and engage with a panel of female train drivers.

· Experience what it would be like to drive a train through our in-house simulator.

· Find out more about our recruitment process and extensive training programme.

· Register your interest in the role.

· Snacks and refreshments will be provided throughout the event.


More about the Train Driver role

This isn’t your typical 9-to-5 job! Being a train driver does involve working unsociable hours and at weekends, however, the flexibility of shift work and a four-day working week might be just right for you.

As a train driver with ScotRail, you could be travelling along some of the most scenic rail routes in the world, doing the important job of connecting the people of Scotland. Our train drivers are at the heart of ScotRail, making sure our customers get to where they need to be safely, comfortably, and on time.

Please note – in adherence with regulatory guidelines, trainee train drivers need to be a minimum of 20 years old at the time of commencing their training.


What we offer our train drivers

· £36,032 per annum during training increasing to £63,421 per annum after completing post-qualification intervals.

· Contributory final salary pension scheme.
