Educating our female patients about Women’s health and wellness is an essential component of our clinical practices, regardless of our individual specialties. To effectively care for our patients, it is critical for our women physicians to practice these principals and create a community of wellness and purpose. The goal of this Professional Seminar is to update our women physicians and scientists on the latest topics relevant to women’s health and to reinforce our personal commitment to wellness. We have designed a two-day Professional Seminar to share information and best practices to increase knowledge and to provide inspiration. The ultimate goal being equitable, precision care of our patients and ourselves. We aim to accomplish these goals by combining classic, cutting-edge biomedical science education with structured professional development sessions and evidence-based wellness activities, in a comfortable and welcoming setting. Our Seminar is not like the typical medical conference, but instead provides a total immersion experience, which will give participants time to fully embrace opportunities to enhance their knowledge of women’s health and personal wellness.
Target Audience:
This program is intended for primary care physicians, specialty physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, case managers, social workers, pharmacists and researchers.
Learning Objectives:
Upon conclusion of this program, participants should be able to:
-List 3 reasons why they enjoy their jobs, even when they are stressful and demanding. This will lead to an estimated reduction in faculty resignations or reduction in clinical hours (FTE) among participants due to burnout by 1% annually. It is estimated that replacing one physician costs an organization $500,000 – $1,000,000 (Shanafelt, JAMA Internal Medicine, 2017).
-Describe 3 actionable ways to improve their engagement at work.
Identify at least 3 other WIMS faculty whom they have gotten to know and could contact if they need support or help. Studies show that social connections lead to learning, innovation, knowledge sharing, and improved employee and organizational performance. (Cross, Harvard Business Review, 2019)
