An informative event, with a creative and flavourful twist!
We will be joined by Nawal Slemiah of the Women in Hebron collective of women's embroidery and handicrafts in the West Bank.
An afternoon workshop of Tatreez, Palestinian delights, gifts, and an evening talk about women's experiences of life and work in the West Bank...
3-5pm Embroidery Workshop:
The cost of the workshop is £20 per person. Please book a ticket to let us know you will be coming. The class will give us all an insight into the wonderful history and creativity of Palestinian Tatreez (embroidery) and its connections to time and place, as well as teaching us a new creative skill. A voluntary donation for materials is also welcome.
From 6-8.30 pm Discussion with Nawal Slemiah. Q&A.
Come and hear about the latest developments in the West Bank, the women's daily lived experience, the collective’s work, and how everyone is trying to get by under increasingly difficult circumstances. Entry to the talk by donation
Between events we will have an array of Palestinian snacks and refreshments to keep us going. You can attend either or both of the events, the choice is yours.
Nawal will bring products made by the cooperative for display and sale. It's these sales that support the150+ members of the cooperative. If people wish to buy, they can, though there is no obligation to do so.
It is however, a fantastic opportunity to get ahead with the Christmas shopping!
This will be accompanied by displays detailing the craft, and a selection of merchandise supporting the Palestine Solidarity cause.
We have a fabulously full day of Palestinian events.
