Women in Communications and Technology BC (WCT/BC) Speed Mentoring Event

Join the Discovery Foundation Speed Mentoring Event in partnership with the WCT/BC to learn from some of BC’s most successful women and take a professional headshot with @dekkoustudio!

Ask a variety of questions to our esteemed mentors to gain insight into how they build professional relationships and the benefits to their careers and lives.

Date: Wednesday, November 13

We are thrilled that a professional photographer from @dekkoustudio will be joining us for this event to take headshots for all mentees in attendance.

Time:

• Check-in/Registration: 5:00-5:15 pm
• Speed Mentoring: 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm.
• Light snacks and beverages will be provided.

Location: Canadian College of Technology and Business, Floor 5, 101 Smithe St.

Deadline to register: November 12, or when the spots are filled.

This event is an opportunity for professional women at all levels to share experiences pertaining to personal growth and the next steps in their careers. The Speed Mentoring Event also will give Attendees the chance to network with like-minded individuals, exchange ideas, and build relationships. This event will be an invaluable opportunity for women to build confidence and empower themselves whether they are looking to expand their role or embark on something new.

This event will focus on strategic next-steps in your career after you finish your program, or alternatively, if you are looking for a career shift.

Bringing intention into how we build relationships at work can have many benefits - connecting with colleagues in different departments and levels of the organization, improving the efficiency in how we do our work, boosting our sphere of influence and interpersonal skills, making work more fun, and many other advantages.

What is speed mentoring?

• A Speed Mentoring event consists of a series of short, round-table discussions facilitated by one volunteer mentor and up to three mentees.
• Form new connections with both mentors and mentees from a diverse set of backgrounds.
• Explore how having a mentor could support you and your career.
• Gather a range of new perspectives on a challenge you are currently facing.

Discovery Foundation’s Speed Mentoring Program in Collaboration with WCTBC, is an event series that seeks to provide informal mentoring opportunities to all women, trans and non-binary people working in communications and technology.
