About this Event
Join Us for the Women in Aviation High Tea!
Get ready for an inspiring afternoon - the keynote speaker will be Squadron Leader Lisa Casey, commanding officer of RAAF Wagga, supported by Marianne Evans, helicopter pilot and proprietor of Albury company Helifly, and Bridget Hosking, an air traffic controller at Albury and a training specialist with Airservices Australia.
The moderator for the afternoon will be Gaye Pattison of ABC Goulburn-Murray.
The event is in a unique venue – the Uiver hangar, where a vintage Douglas DC-2 is being restored as memorial to the Uiver, the Dutch DC-2 that made a dramatic landing at the Albury racecourse during the London to Melbourne air race of 1934. Part of the hangar will be transformed into a tearoom befitting a traditional English high tea, with tables complete with white linen.
As well as the guest speakers, the event will also celebrate six women pilots, including two Australians, who were connected with the 1934 air race and whose stories are told in a booklet to be available at the high tea - we can’t wait to see you there.
