Holiday Celebration 2022
So Kids SOAR (Formerly known as Dreams For Kids DC) and Washington Nationals Youth Baseball Academy invite you to join us for our annual holiday celebration for youth with physical and developmental disabilities!
Throughout the year, we hold adaptive clinics for our special needs children--anything from waterskiing to football. The So Kids SOAR Holiday Celebration is not only a fun event for our volunteers, participants, and their families; moreover, a way for our youth with disabilities to give back to the less fortunate. At the holiday event, we will provide all guests with activities, such as wrapping presents for homeless children, stuffing Kong balls for animal shelters, etc. Each one of our youth participants will receive a gift bag as they leave, a thank you for helping us give back, and also to show them that their disability cannot hold them back from performing their own philanthropy.
Who: This event is open to volunteers, parents/guardians, and youth with a disability of any type who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19. We will check for vaccination cards at registration.
We need 2-3 volunteers with cars to assist with dropping off gifts to DC Adoptive and Foster Parent Association after the event! Please email [email protected] if you are interested!

This year, participants will be creating and donating: 200 English flashcards to Hands on Tokyo. 100 wrapped gifts to DC Adoptive and Foster Parent Association. 50 wrapped gifts to Progressive Life Center. 50 stuffed Kong balls to Montgomery County Partners for Animal Wellbeing. 50 backpacks with school supplies to Kids In Need of Defense. Items to Action In Africa.

Not a Participant? Here are 5 ways you can get involved...You don't have to do it alone. If you belong to a company, church group, or student organization, the SKS Holiday Celebration is the perfect philanthropic event and volunteer opportunity to rally your group behind.
1) Sign up as a Volunteer above. We welcome volunteers to assist with every facet of the day, whether it be pairing up with participants or managing stations.
2) Hold an item drive. All gift drives will be supported through So Kids SOAR social media outlets (Facebook, Twitter, and Newsletters). We are looking to collect presents (for children aged 3 - 18), backpacks, and school supplies (notebooks, pens, pencils, binders).
3) Help get the word out about the Holiday Celebration! Using social media, newsletters, or other networks, letting others know what this event is about through personal and professional contacts can be extremely powerful.
