The Central Puget Sound Chapter Native Plant Nursery will be hosting our annual Seed Starting Workshop at Magnuson Park on Saturday November 23rd from 10 AM to 2 PM. Volunteers are welcome to drop in anytime until 2pmThis workshop will be an opportunity to learn about propagating native plants from seed while also providing new plant starts for the nursery. For the event we will have a variety of species on hand as well as soil, pots, and all the necessary tools.
We will have knowledgeable folks on hand to answer questions and discuss the ins and outs of growing your very own native plants from seed. Participants will collectively work on the following tasks:
🌱 Prepare seed starting substrates
🌱 Filling seed start trays with substrate
🌱 Seeding trays
🌱 Labeling trays
🌱 Organizing and covering trays with row cover.
Additionally, we always have leftover seed!
We will invite those participants whom are interested in practicing starting native seeds at home to take home pots, substrate, and seeds. In return we request that you donate some of your plants back to the nursery to share with our community.
We hope you are able to join us so we can learn together!
We will have hot and cold water for tea/coffee/cocoa and light refreshments on hand. The nursery is located outdoors with a covered work area so please dress for the weather.
Feel free to email [email protected] with any questions.
We look forward to seeing you there!
Thank you,
Anastasia Korochanskaya & Patrick Lehr
