REGISTER HERE TO PARTICIPATE IN PERSON AT THE WJI RECLAMATION CENTER

Register to join us for our Reclamation Circle Series led by-and-for women whose lives have been impacted by the criminal legal system. This page has the monthly schedule for in person circles at the WJI Reclamation Center in Chicago. You may register for as many circles that you choose (as long as there are slots). However, if you prefer to participate virtually, simply go back to the main event page and select virtual option.

In addition, you may register here as either a participant or as a social services provider - or both. Many of our participants are women who have been directly impacted by the criminal legal system and are now reaching back and offering their own programs and services to support their community.

What is a Reclamation Circle?

Reclamation Circles bring system-impacted women together in powerful ways to share, heal and reclaim our lives by:

  • Taking back our own narratives, and getting support to build a plan for the future - no matter where we are on our journey
  • Connecting with meaningful resources
  • Building our community, networks & professional development opportunities

Circles run 2.5 hours each, and then conclude with a 30-minute reception where participants can connect with service providers and peer-led resources led by-and-for women with lived experience. Food and refreshments will be served.

Where will the Reclamation Circles be convened? Can I attend more than one?

Circles will be convened twice per month, once virtually via Zoom and once in person at the WJI Reclamation Center in Chicago. While attending one circle is a powerful experience, circles can also provide an ongoing source of support and connection for those that want to attend on an ongoing basis.

What is the WJI Reclamation Center?

The WJI's beautiful new Reclamation Center is located in Chicago, 2150 South Canalport, Suite 4A-1. It is a safe, child friendly space open weekdays where women can go to get support with reentry planning, to work on computers to search for jobs, housing and services, to access training and other professional development opportunities, to co-work and to attend networking events.

The Reclamation Center is also the home of the WJI's advocacy work to end the mass incarceration of women, and reduce harm to women, their children, families and communities. All participants are welcome to sign up to get involved in this work on a volunteer basis.

Can I bring my children to the circle?

While the Reclamation Center is not a licensed child care provider, the space is child friendly and games, toys, movies and healthy snacks will be available should moms want bring their children.

What is the WJI Reclamation Project?

The WJI Reclamation Project is a sisterhood formed by women leaders whose lives have been impacted by the criminal legal system. We come together to reclaim justice for women, their children and families through mutual support and transformative advocacy.

Connect with us virtually or at our Reclamation Center in Chicago, a safe and creative space where we collaborate in powerful ways to end women's mass incarceration. No matter where you are on your journey, the center offers a variety of peer-led programs and events that facilitate support, connection, healing, growth and "real justice" for our sisters on both sides of the wall.

How can I sign up to learn more about the Reclamation Project, get an appointment to visit the Reclamation Center and get on the mailing list?
