Duration: approximately 3 hours depending on pace.

Discover the natural beauty of Essex with Black Girls Hike this December on a 6.5-mile circular trail near Colchester. The route, set around Wivenhoe and the Colne Estuary, offers a mix of stunning riverside views and serene countryside landscapes.

This moderately challenging walk take approximately 3 hours to complete and is perfect for those who enjoy hiking through picturesque scenery while connecting with others.
Terrain: Some footpaths, which may be slippery and muddy, so hiking boots a must, ideally with good ankle support.


What to bring: Snacks/lunch, water to stay hydrated, weather appropriate clothing, and boots you don’t mind getting muddy.


Lunch stop: We will eat in the the natural surroundings—it’s all part of the adventure and we can stop for coffee at the end of the hike


Facilities: Toilets will be available at the end of the walk

Can I come to Black Girls Hike?

As the name suggests, this is a safe space for Black/Mixed Race cis and trans women and non-binary people of Black African and/or Caribbean descent who are comfortable in a space that centres the experiences of Black women. We are not a BAME, POC, BIPOC,WOC, Politically Black or Ally organisation.
