Coming together once again as they did in Georgia on My Mind, all-star performers TAKE 6, Clint Holmes, and Nnenna Freelon celebrate two of their favorite singer-songwriters with Withers to Wonder: Celebrating the Songs of Bill Withers and Stevie Wonder.
Bill Withers, one of America’s most beloved singer-songwriters, brought fans hits such as “Ain’t No Sunshine,” “Lean on Me,” “Just the Two of Us,” “Lovely Day,” and countless others with his soulful voice and heartfelt lyrics. An inductee of the Songwriters Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Withers also garnered three Grammy Award wins and nine nominations throughout his remarkable career.
With an astounding 74 Grammy nominations resulting in 25 wins, it is no surprise that Stevie Wonder stands as one of the most prolific and influential artists of our time. Making his recording debut at the young age of 11, Wonder has released hit after hit, decade after decade, with classics like “Superstition,” “For Once in My Life,” “Isn’t She Lovely,” “I Just Called to Say I Love You,” and so many more.
Featuring eight-time Grammy winners and Gospel Music Hall of Famers TAKE 6, Emmy winner Clint Holmes, and acclaimed jazz vocalist Nnenna Freelon, Withers to Wonder will boast iconic tunes from the catalogues of legendary singer-songwriters Bill Withers and Stevie Wonder.
When Stevie Wonder inducted Bill Withers into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, they discussed collaborating on a show. That dream never materialized due to Withers’ passing, but it inspired Holmes, Freelon, and Take 6–who all have special connections to Withers and Wonder–to put this show together as a tribute to two of the greatest artists of our time!
