Withered Hand is the pseudonym of Edinburgh-based singer-songwriter Dan Willson. Since the release of his debut album ‘Good News’ in 2009, Dan has become a celebrated figure in
the Scottish music scene and further afield. A well-travelled touring singer-songwriter, he has quietly amassed a devoted cult fanbase while staying true to a singular artistic vision.
A strident second album ‘New Gods’ in 2014 propelled Withered Hand into the charts, featuring appearances by friends, luminaries and supporters from the Scottish music scene, from Belle & Sebastian to Frightened Rabbit to The Vaselines and beyond. A long-awaited third Withered Hand album, ‘How To Love’, was released in 2023, again to widespread critical acclaim.
Dan’s subsequent collaboration with Mercury Prize nominated English singer-songwriter Kathryn Williams resulted in last year’s album “Willson Williams” - shortlisted for both
Scottish Album of the Year and UK Americana Album of the Year 2024.
Dan is currently working on a 4th Withered Hand LP with his friend and mentor King Creosote, due for release in late 2025.
Dan has been guest tutor on Songwriting Workshops at Moniack Mhor - Scotland’s Centre of Creative Writing, Arvon Writing Foundation at Totleigh Barton and Arvon Lumb Bank and is
an advocate of the power of music and creativity in recovery, healing and growth.

Richard Lomax (AKA Granfalloon) is about to deliver the third and final instalment of a 10 year project known as 'Calendar'. This triple album has been a maddening yet rewarding journey that has documented the fever dream of a chaotic year in the form of fifty-two pieces of music. Lomax first embarked on writing songs for a proposed year-long journal in 2014… This sonic journal rested until 2022 when 12 songs were reawakened, rerecorded under studio conditions, and released as 'Calendar - Volume I'. It was to be the first instalment of a triptych; it focussed on traditional songwriting, and not quite traditional storytelling, to chisel out small, beautiful moments. It showcases this non-traditional storytelling with subject matter like... the meta-narrative approach to the dangers to you and the relationships around you that writing can have, expressing love through mathematical formulae, and 8 year old girls catching bees in Tupperware boxes, all with a heavy dose of Richard Lomax’s absurdism. This was followed by 2023's 'Calendar - Chapter II', a collaboration with fellow songwriter Lobelia. 'Chapter II' took the ideas, concepts and rough sketches of 2014 and rewrote them entirely, making new songs and fresh pieces of music with Lobelia. The album was recorded live with Lomax and Lobelia singing and playing together in the same room. Now, a decade after its initial conception, 'Calendar - Phase III', completes the journey, taking those fifty-two ramblings, ideas, half-baked thoughts and overcooked dreams and turning them into a trio of albums.
