Empowering Tales from Three Remarkable Widows Two of our members, Karen Justice and Karen Smith Racicot, have joined another friend in sharing their journey of widowhood through their memoirs, which include stories of struggle, strength, and success. Collectively known as Rebecca and the 2 Karens, these three widows share their experiences and what they have learned.
Historically, widows have worn black and the world of widows has been dark. Today’s world is a bit different. Although they may face exhaustion, confusion, and frustration, women who have lost a spouse can conquer the challenge and build a new future.
In their new book (title to be revealed at the meeting), Rebecca, Tall Karen, and Short Karen will give WISH members an early preview of their surprising statistics and stories about widows and widowhood.
• Do you know the best things to do and what not to say to a new widow? They have some suggestions.
• Do you know the average age of widows in our country? It’s younger than you think.
• Do you know one of the first things a widow should do? It depends on how prepared she is.
• Do you know what you need to do to be prepared? They have some suggestions, but so does your grandmother, probably.
Between them, the authors have earned a Ph.D., an M.B.A., and a Life Coach Certificate. They have years of life experience as a research scientist, artist, photographer, teacher, non-profit manager, business owner, accounting specialist, and travelers. It was travel that brought them together and created an interesting bond that then grew much larger. Where it all began is one element of their story of life after being widowed.
Join us to learn more about them and, most importantly, what 10 million other women in this country wish they had known last year.
