WHAT: Wisconsinites from across the ideological spectrum, in partnership with Builders, a nonpartisan movement to overcome toxic polarization, will host a film screening and panel discussion exploring the hidden common ground on guns. The event, which comes after a shooting at Madison’s Abundant Life Christian School, aims to empower citizens to expand an often binary conversation and find a way forward together. , a documentary about politically diverse Tennesseans as they develop solutions to gun violence, will be shown as a model of constructive discourse on this issue.
WHO: The event will be hosted by Dane County’s Ali Muldrow (a progressive), Milwaukee County’s Bria Halama (a conservative), and Door County’s Jake VandenPlas (a libertarian) with support from Builders, which equips citizens to think flexibly, solve problems constructively, and hold elected representatives accountable. A teacher and a Second Amendment supporter will represent the Tennessee 11 on the panel alongside local leaders, including Director of the Marquette Law School Poll Charles Franklin.
