Celebrate the 125th anniversary of the Wisconsin State Park System with three award-winning authors who highlight the natural history, beauty, and transformative power of our fifty state parks. The Wisconsin Book Festival welcomes Betsy Korbinyr, Scott Spoolman, and Randy Hoffman as they share their experiences exploring our state parks and inspire you to set off on your own outdoor adventure!
This event will take place at the Wisconsin Historical Society Auditorium, 816 State St, Madison.
Betsy Korbinyr is the author of Time, Beauty, and Grief, her account of turning 65 and embarking on a Quest to complete five miles in all fifty Wisconsin State Parks in one year. Part trail guide, part memoir, and part conversation on the adventure of becoming a senior citizen, this engaging collection of essays offers you fresh perspectives on the parks and new insights into your own coming-of-age.
Scott Spoolman’s Wisconsin State Parks: Extraordinary Stories of Geology and Natural History takes you to twenty-eight parks, forests, and natural areas, highlighting the amazing geologic processes—from ancient volcanoes to massive glacial sheets—that shaped the landscapes we know today.
Randy Hoffman’s Great Nature Wisconsin (coauthored by Cody and Laura Stingley) is an essential guide to nature immersion in Wisconsin, offering hundreds of scenic destinations throughout the state perfect for outdoor enthusiasts, whether you’re planning a vacation getaway or just looking for a nature spot close to home.
This panel is presented in partnership with the Wisconsin Science Festival. For more information on the Wisconsin Book Festival, including a full schedule of Fest events, visit https://www.wisconsinbookfestival.org/
