Join us for our first-ever Pinewood Derby, where speed, style, and questionable engineering choices collide. Build a car, race it down the track, and compete for glory, bragging rights, and eternal Baraboo legend.
To keep things properly celebratory, we’ll also be rolling out a special menu of Pinewood Derby inspired cocktails, available exclusively for the event.
How to enter
• $15 Car Kit + Registration
• $10 Registration + Bring Your Own Car
Important registration info
Those interested in competing must stop by Wiscocktail Lounge in advance to register and/or pick up their car kit. Registration is handled in person at the bar only. Space is limited, and with just 24 car kits available, we recommend registering as soon as possible if you want to race.
⚠️ Only 24 car kits available for purchase at the bar. First come, first served.
Prizes
We’ll crown three champions:
• Overall Winner Fastest car
• Best Dressed Coolest design, wildest decor, most style
• The Dud Last place (because failure deserves recognition too)
Race format
Double Elimination Tournament
Every car gets more than one shot. Winners advance in the winner’s bracket, while others battle through the loser’s bracket. The final car from each bracket races head-to-head for first place.
Official Rules (read these before you build)
All cars must pass inspection to race:
• Maximum width: 2¾ inches
• Maximum length: 7 inches
• Maximum weight: 5 ounces
• Body, wheels, and axles must come from an official kit
• Additional wheels may be purchased separately
• No bearings, washers, or bushings
• No oil lubricants. Powdered graphite or silicone only
• No springs or starting devices
• Car must be free-wheeling
• No loose materials inside the car
Bad builds will be lovingly rejected.
