WIRED is an interdisciplinary dance and music performance focused on rhythm, soul and emancipation. It is developed and performed by an international and intergenerational cast with powerful personalities, masterful skill sets and educated points of view. It’s centered around the relation between music & dance as intelligent languages that carry the wisdom of Black traditions.
The international and intergenerational cast creates the soundtrack live on stage, featuring electronic drums in genres such as Broken Beat, House and Hip Hop music. This is delivered through live beat-making, poetry, and body percussion. Gritty bass lines are balanced with melodies and soulful vocals, celebrating soul and the feminine qualities of Black culture, taking the audience on an uninterrupted journey into the depths of the underground.
We find ourselves in the intimate atmosphere of a good underground club, where the lighting is dim and warm, where the darkness feels safe, and a shared love for music is everything. In the ecstasy, we find ourselves, each other, and the spiritual reality that our human experience is rooted in.
We don’t just move to the music; we move because of it.
Here, we find peace.
Here, we can laugh, cry, grind, and express ourselves freely, however and whenever we feel like it. Here, we witness each other’s experiences and understand the unspoken.
Our joy is our revolution. Our vulnerability is a strength. Essential being is valued over sensational presentations.
“Music is life, that’s why our hearts have beats.
Add some percussion, some strings, put bells on your feet.
Rock to this track, Jack into the deep.
Vibe to the tune of truth, radical love will set us free.”
The title refers to the drum which connects the global diaspora with various expressions over oceans of time.

Biography:
Marie Kaae (she/her) is a Danish-Kurdish-Cameroonian choreographer and dancer with a background in Street and Club dance genres, specializing in House dance. She is best known in the authentic and international underground scene of the genre, and works from the belief that dance should be liberating and humanly revolutionary, without compromising on technical effort, precision and talent.
With over 20 years of experience as a performing artist, Marie has been actively facilitating nightclub events specifically for club dancers in Copenhagen and Paris since 2010. In recent years, she has focused on anti-racism and decolonization within the performing arts, addressing questions of representation and the appropriation of Afro-diasporic dance and culture.
House dance pioneer Ejoe Wilson has named Marie Kaae as his successor and a leading figure for the future of the House dance genre.
