Based in Leek, Judith has been making jewellery since 2004 and I adore her feminine designs. Inspired by history, she produces intricate and stylish designs and it is a pleasure to welcome her back to The Fox Studios. In this workshop, you will make decorative wire insects inspired by butterflies, moths and dragonflies that you could hang on the wall or sit on a shelf or your mantelpiece.
Judith will show you how to use wire and beads to create your own unique insect. All materials are included and there will be a variety of coloured beads and wires for you to chose from. The insect bases can be made with silver plated or copper wire, the copper wire can also be oxidised to create a dark grey colour as you can see in the dragonfly here. You can take inspiration from real butterflies or you can use your imagination for your colour palettes and shapes. Judith's example have their foundation in observation, but have developed in their own unique way, which is part of the joy of making. To give you an idea of size, these examples range from about 10-14cm in width.
